Maya Washington is an award-winning writer/director steadily making a name for herself on the international film festival circuit with her short film, White Space, and its parent organization, White Space Poetry Project. She is currently completing post-production on her first feature length project, Through the Banks of the Red Cedar, a documentary about her father Gene Washington (50 Greatest Vikings of All Time Honoree, MSU Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame) and his journey alongside Michigan State teammates from the segregated South to first round draft picks to the NFL in 1967.
