Maya Washington is an award-winning writer/director, producer, and actor, steadily making a name for herself on the international film festival circuit. She recently completed post-production on her first feature length project, Through the Banks of the Red Cedar, a documentary about her father Gene Washington (50 Greatest Vikings of All Time Honoree, MSU Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame) and his journey alongside Michigan State teammates from the segregated South to first round draft picks to the NFL in 1967. Additionally her award-winning narrative short film CLEAR, about a family navigating the aftermath of wrongful conviction, is moving audiences nationwide as she teams with social justice scholars and activists in the fields of innocence and wrongful conviction.
